The horses are from the neck up and the rings are within their mouths. because of their position, the horses do not stand out. The rings are about an inch thick and 5-6 inches round and can be knocked against a small 1x1 post sticking out of the door.

The Trinity Episcopal Church is in horse country. The Mellon family (of Mellon bank), donated to have the church restored twice over the last 100 years and no details were left untouched. The area of Upperville is known for the horsing community and some details on the church reflect that.
