EN: Monte Caslano is a hill and a peninsula surrounded by Lake Lugano south of the village of Caslano. The peak of this hill is on 522 meters above sea level or 251 meter above the lake. The hill is overgrown with different types of forest, and it is said to be one of the most diverse places in the country. Almost two dozen different biospheres and soil types have been identified on this rather small area. There is an extensive network of hiking trail all over the hill and around it, some with many information boards. But most of them are in the forest a do not offer views to distant places. This spot is one of the exceptions.
From here, you look to the south over Lake Lugano. The main part of the Lake is just behind the mountain in the south. What you see is a side arm that branches off into two different bays. The villages on the other shore of the Lake are Carabietta and Casoro. The peninsula on the right side hides the Italian town of Brusimpiano. The country border goes right through the lake, the mountain in the background is half Italian, half Swiss.
