The Mercado de la Ribera is a market square located in Bilbao , capital of the Basque province of Vizcaya , in northern Spain . It is located on the right bank of the Nervión estuary next to the Old Town . It has a commercial area of ??10,000 m² which makes it the largest covered market in Europe . Inside, it contains stalls selling different products, highlighting the fresh food. It is ordered by the type of product that is sold. By plants the distribution is as follows:
Ground floor - Fishmonger: fresh fish, frozen fish, shellfish, pickles, sharpener and codfish.
First floor - Butchers: Butchers, delicatessens, cold cuts, bar, poultry, pasta and pastry shops, pickles and preserves.
Second floor - Fruits and vegetables: fruits and vegetables, egg shop, florist, mushrooms and seeds.
There is even an area for the direct sale of products produced in the country's small farms, the hamlets.
The Ribera market is located on Calle Ribera, on the banks of the Nervión estuary. In the old Plaza Mayor or Vieja. Next to it is the church of San Antón and when it was built, the town hall. In the market are the Conde de Mirasol pedestrian walkway and the San Antón Bridge.

In december of 2010 there was a reforme that was a radical change in the management of natural light with large glass surfaces. Hence these huge windows with colorful colors, which combined with the interior give a lot of light. There are on all sides of the market, attached to the vault.
