Lederer Youth Garden is located in Ward 7 at 4801 Nannie Helen Burroughs Avenue NE. The garden is a program of DC Department of Parks and Recreation, and consists of 40 children’s plots (5'x15') and 20 adult plots (10'x15'). There is a beehive on-site, as well as covered picnic pavilion, a greenhouse space, and a Rec Center building.
There has been major restructuring of Lederer garden programs recently due to budget cuts and additional funding was sought for the garden through grants given by the Scotts Miracle-Gro Company and Whole Foods Market. The garden is upkept largely through groups of volunteers, and much of the produce is donated to Capital Area Food Bank and DC Central Kitchen.
