In 1918, the construction of the most representative building of modernism in the city began.
Almost from the first moment, it was known him like Taboada Building, (due to the pharmacy that in 1935 settled in the low one, property of Dona Josefa Taboada Allú), although, diverse sources, assign the property to the Anta family (Alejandro Anta Nóvoa, requested the license on November 19, 1918).
The sketch is already, in itself, a jewel, and shows the initial project, by Don Daniel Vázquez-Gulias Martínez, (according to the book by Dona Mª Vitoria Carballo Calero "La transformación de una ciudad - Orense ...", the project is "missing").
I can't confirm if, at first, it came to have that beautiful dome that finished the structure, the truth is that it does not currently have it, in the same way that more modifications can be seen on the façade (below).
What I can say is that the building is considered the masterpiece of modernism in Ourense, as stated by Mrs. Victoria Carballo Calero, in her book, "approaches a Gaudí conception" (in reference to the architect Antonio Gaudí).
