Although it's one the main border crossings between Ecuador and Peru it's a quiet border. The closest main towns are Zamora (Ecuador) and Jaen (Peru) where there is a convenient airport for connections with the rest of the country.
There are a few restaurants and shops in the Peruvian side.
The river marks the border, with the actual crossing being a bridge.
