The CBC’s Mount Royal antenna tower hosts most major FM and TV transmitters in the city. All major commercial FM radio stations in Montreal except one broadcast from antennas on a single giant transmission tower at the top of Mount Royal.
The tower is actually a very short (about 328 ft) candelabra tower, which is limited in height because of the elevation of Mount Royal and the maximum allowable height (1100' above sea level) dictated by the federal Department of Transport because of the proximity to the flight path to Trudeau Airport nearby.
