It is a construction located on the river Sella as it passes through Cangas de Onís, and which separates the councils of Cangas de Onís and Parres, therefore half of them belong to each council.
Although it is known as the Roman bridge, its construction is medieval from the reign of Alfonso XI of Castile with its famous banded arch and two other minor arches that are uneven. This bridge could well be a reconstruction of a previous one of Roman origin, although there is no proof of this.
The also called “Puente Vieyu” or Puentón, is one of the most representative symbols of Cangas de Onís and the Principality… and one of the most photographed places in Asturias…. If you still don't have your photo, get inspired by these.
