[EN] Adolf Erik Ehrnrooth (9 February 1905, Helsinki – 26 February 2004) was a Finnish general who served during the Winter and Continuation wars. He also competed in two equestrian events at the 1948 Summer Olympics.
During the brief Winter War against the Soviet Union, he served on the staffs of the 7th Division and the Cavalry Brigade. When the Continuation War, also against the Soviet Union, broke out in June 1941, he served as the chief of staff of the 2nd Division until he was seriously wounded. After he recovered he was appointed to lead the 7th Infantry regiment (JR 7) of the 2nd Division. During the battles on the Karelian Isthmus, he was awarded the Mannerheim cross. He also received the Grand Cross of the Royal Swedish Order of the Sword.
After the war, he led an active military career until he retired in 1965.
The monument to Infantry General Adolf Ehrnrooth is the work of the sculptor Herman Joutsen. It is a bronze relief attached to a red granite stone. The subject of the relief is Ehrnrooth inspecting his regiment JR 7 on the Karelian isthmus on June 4, 1944. The work describes a real event, and only a few days later a major attack took place on the Karelian isthmus. The sculpture was unveiled to the public in Independence Square in Turku on May 27, 2005.

[FIN] Adolf Erik Ehrnrooth (9. helmikuuta 1905 Helsinki – 26. helmikuuta 2004 Turku) oli suomalainen jalkaväenkenraali ja Mannerheim-ristin ritari numero 162, josta muodostui viimeisinä vuosikymmeninään sotaveteraanien näkyvä kärkihahmo ja puolestapuhuja. Ehrnroothin vaimo oli tanskalaissyntyinen kreivitär Karin-Birgitte Ehrnrooth (o.s. Schack) (s. 11. tammikuuta 1925 k. 19. syyskuuta 2019), jonka kanssa hän avioitui vuonna 1959. Ehrnrootheilla on kolme lasta, tyttäret Karin (s. 1960) ja Eva (s. 1964), sekä poika Hans Adolf (s. 1962), joka niin ikään on luonut sotilasuraa, toimien muun muassa Suomen Pariisin suurlähetystön sotilasasiamiehenä.
Lyhyen talvisodan aikana Neuvostoliittoa vastaan ??hän palveli 7. divisioonan ja ratsuväen prikaatin esikunnassa. Kun jatkosota, myös Neuvostoliittoa vastaan, puhkesi kesäkuussa 1941, hän toimi 2. divisioonan esikuntapäällikkönä, kunnes hänet loukkaantui vakavasti. Toipumisensa jälkeen hänet nimitettiin johtamaan 2. divisioonan 7. jalkaväkirykmenttiä (JR 7). Karjalan kannaksen taistelujen aikana hänelle myönnettiin Mannerheimin risti. Hän sai myös Ruotsin kuninkaallisen Miekkaritarin Suurristin.
Sodan jälkeen hän johti aktiivista sotilaallista uraa, kunnes jäi eläkkeelle vuonna 1965.
Jalkaväenkenraali Adolf Ehrnroothin muistomerkki on kuvanveistäjä Herman Joutsenen teos. Kyseessä on pronssireliefi, joka on kiinnitetty punagraniittikiveen. Reliefin aiheena on Ehrnrooth tarkastamassa rykmenttiään JR 7:ää Karjalan kannaksella 4. kesäkuuta 1944. Teos kuvaa todellista tapahtuma, ja vain muutama päivä myöhemmin tapahtui Karjalan kannaksella suurhyökkäys. Veistos paljastettiin yleisölle Turussa Itsenäisyyden aukiolla 27.5.2005.
