Lausavage is a small town near the border to France. In the 17th century mining started to be main economy factor of that area and mines were build in that town. Nowadday the time of mining has gone. The remaining infrastructure is preserved as museum and as an attraction, the railway is still operating. One of the machines used in the processing of the steel is a friction press which was build in 1930 by the German company Schuler. It was used to bend rails. It was operatored until 1978. Its height is about 3m. The engine for operating it is missing.
Today the friction press is placed near the old mine of Lausavage as an eye-catcher.
