Deze boom is geplant bij het speelveld van de basisschool de Bongerd op 21 maart 2007, ter ere van de 50e verjaardag van de boomfeestdag. Ik kon verder niks op het web vinden over deze boom, wel iets over de boomfeestdag van wikipedia:
De Nationale Boomfeestdag (tot 1980 ook Boomplantdag genoemd) wordt in Nederland jaarlijks gehouden op de derde woensdag in maart. Deze dag in het voorjaar voor het behoud van bomen in de natuur werd voor het eerst in april 1957 in Nederland georganiseerd door het Landelijk Comité Boomplantdag (als onderdeel van Staatsbosbeheer), en in 1980 is voortgezet door de Stichting Nationale Boomfeestdag (waar sindsdien Staatsbosbeheer wordt gecommuniceerd als de moederorganisatie).
Het doel van Stichting Nationale Boomfeestdag is om kinderen van groep 6 (9 en 10 jaar) meer inzicht, kennis en begrip voor bomen bij te brengen. Door middel van natuureducatie laat de stichting kinderen de wondere wereld van bomen beleven, leren ze het belang van bomen voor een duurzame leefomgeving en worden ze geïnspireerd zelf hun steentje hieraan bij te dragen. Tevens heeft de stichting de intentie om ieder kind tijdens zijn of haar basisschooltijd minimaal één keer een boom te laten planten (ieder kind een boom). Tientallen gemeenten hebben deze intentie ook onderschreven door het tekenen van de intentieverklaring ieder kind een boom.

The National Tree Day (until 1980 also known as Tree Planting Day) is held annually in the Netherlands on the third Wednesday in March. This day in spring for the preservation of trees in nature was first organized in April 1957 in the Netherlands by the Landelijk Committee Boomplantdag (as part of Staatsbosbeheer), and continued in 1980 by the National Tree Day Foundation (where Staatsbosbeheer has since been communicated as the parent organization).
The goal of the National Tree Day Foundation is to give children of group 6 (9 and 10 years) more insight, knowledge and understanding of trees. By means of nature education, the foundation allows children to experience the wonderful world of trees, they learn the importance of trees for a sustainable living environment and they are inspired to contribute to this themselves. The foundation also intends to have every child plant a tree at least once during his or her primary school time (every child a tree). Dozens of municipalities have also endorsed this intention by signing the declaration of intent every child a tree.
