Location of sighting: A backyard in Holland, Michigan
Site 1: The ISS passed over Moorhead,MN at a brightness of -3.7 and Altitude of 78° at 21:58:50 Central Time. The ISS arrived at 42° above NW and left our sight at 12° above ESE.
Site 2: The ISS passed over Holland, MI at a brightness of -3.8 and Altitude of 79° at 23:01:09 Eastern time. The ISS arrived at 27° above NW and left our sight at 52° above ESE.
The total flight time between the two points was 1 minute and 19 seconds and the distance is 388 miles.
Late in the evening of July 29, 2020, theHostas watched the ISS fly over Holland, Michigan. The moon was bright and there was a high cloud cover to the southwest. The rest of the sky was clear. The ISS came from the NW first appearing just below the Big Dipper (Ursa Major). It was clearly visible from then on. The ISS was bigger and brighter than expected. The ISS was plainly visible for about 2 minutes, as it passed over Holland, before disappearing into the cloud cover to the ESE. It was an awesome sight!
