This stamp was created for the birthday 100 of the Puente Nuevo in Ourense.
It is the second bridge in the Ourense chronology : its opening, at the beginning of the 20th century, brought with it the title of "old" for the Puente Mayor, until then the only one on the Miño. The modernist design of its central arch reminds us of Gustave Eiffel's creations.

The history of the bridge begins in 1895, years of transformation of the city, when the deputy in Cortes, D. Vicente Pérez, began the efforts to build a new bridge over the Miño river to decongest the Puente Mayor.

Under the design of the engineer Martín Díez de la Banda, the works were completed and it was inaugurated in 1918 in order to facilitate and improve communication on the two banks. The stone used in the bridge factory came from the nearby town of Outariz, and was worked by stonecutters from Cotobade (Pontevedra) under the direction of Díez de la Banda.

Anchors, bridges, oak leaves and other motifs decorate the bas-reliefs of the stone arches at the ends of this bridge, a symbol of the splendor of the Ourense of the early 20th century.

It consists of six arches of ashlar masonry and a metallic section of parabolic arch with 74 meters of light. At the ends, the arrangement, from left to right, is of three 12-meter-long semicircular arches, followed by a carpanel-type arc of 25-meter light. Once the river has saved two arches again, the first carpanel and the second semicircular arch of the same size as the first. In the upper part are some cast iron street lamps made by the Talleres Iglesias de Madrid.

It is located upstream of the Old Bridge, 450 meters away.
