Castle Sulov is mentioned for the first time in document from 14th century. It was built in extremely difficult terain conditions and can be liken to eagle's nest. Its main function was to protect a nearby road. After a fire in 1550 was repaired to the original shape and size. Castle was changing its owners through ages untill obsoleted in 18th century as a safe, but such comfortless place to live. From that time, weather conditions, vegetation and earthquake in 1858 caused the constant destruction of the castle to the ruin. Nevertheless, ruins of castle and natural landscapes around are very recommended places to visit in Slovakia. You'll be simply amazed by "Sulovske" rocks.
