This set of state flags hung in the building gymnasium for the a number of years. One summer they were taken down, boxed and forgotten about. In 2017 the flags were found again and the social studies department decided that they would be displayed in the 7th grade locker-bay windows. US history is the social studies 7th graders have and most of the 7th grade houses are on the second floor. The second floor windows are a better display then the first floor windows and the third floor, 8th grade, has been displaying college pennants, t-shirts, etc. for the last few years.

We decided to hang the flags in the order the states entered the union, so for west to east, left to right from outside, the flags represent: Delaware, Pennsylvania, New Jersey, Georgia, Connecticut, Massachusetts, Maryland, South Carolina, New Hampshire, Virginia, New York, North Carolina, Rhode Island, Vermont, Kentucky, Tennessee, Ohio, Louisiana, Indiana, Mississippi, Illinois, Alabama, Maine, Missouri, Arkansas, Michigan, Florida, Texas, Iowa, Wisconsin, California, Minnesota, Oregon, Kansas, West Virginia, Nevada, Nebraska, Colorado, North Dakota, South Dakota, Montana, Washington, Idaho, Wyoming, Utah, Oklahoma, New Mexico, Arizona, Alaska and Hawaii.

This Waymark was submitted in July '20, as of then there were discussions going on about statehood for the District of Columbia, as there has been for decades. If DC becomes the 51st state the school will need to get a new flag and I will update this Waymark.

As this is a middle school, visits to this waymark on school days should be done after 4:30PM.
