The Chaco War was fought between Bolivia and Paraguay from 1932 to 1935 and remains as the most bloody war in South America history.

In both countries there are multiple monuments to this war. The one featured in this waymark is located in the main cemetery of Sucre.

The monument was built next to the mausoleum of the veterans, featuring a cannon, a wounded soldier and a feminine figure. The meaning of the latter is not clear.
