Het 'Joods monument' in Gorinchem is een menora van Carrara-marmer. De menora is verankerd in een paneel van rode baksteen. Rechts hiervan staat in een flauwe hoek een identiek paneel, waarop een bronzen plaquette is bevestigd. In de bestrating is in spiegelbeeld een liggende menora te zien. Een menora is het symbool van de constante goddelijke aanwezigheid. De liggende menora symboliseert de gedachte aan vermiste en verminkte personen. Van deze menora is de binnenste arm verwijderd om het perspectief van de kamppalen beter uit te laten komen. Met de twee panelen wordt een opengeslagen boek gesuggereerd.
Oorspronkelijk stond het monument aan de Blijenhoek, waar de synagoge heeft gestaan. In 1995 is het gedenkteken verplaatst naar het Melkpad, omdat de Blijenhoek is bebouwd. De nieuwe uitvoering is onthuld op 13 februari 1996.

Op de muur zijn in een marmeren band in alfabetische volgorde de namen van zeventig joodse oorlogsslachtoffers uit Gorinchem gegraveerd.

The 'Jewish monument' in Gorinchem is a menorah of Carrara marble. The menorah is anchored in a red brick panel. To the right of this is an identical panel at a slight angle, on which a bronze plaque is attached. In the pavement a lying menorah can be seen in mirror image. A menorah is the symbol of the constant divine presence. The reclining menorah symbolizes the thought of missing and mutilated persons. The inner arm has been removed from this menorah to enhance the perspective of the camp poles. An open book is suggested with the two panels.
Originally, the monument stood on the Blijenhoek, where the synagogue once stood. In 1995 the memorial was moved to the Melkpad, because the Blijenhoek is built on. The new version was unveiled on February 13, 1996.
