Mingo, the oldest active geocache, is located in Mingo, Kansas. Mingo is on I-70 in Northwestern Kansas, just south of Colby. The cache is easily accessible from County Road 25, south of County Road K. As you drive west on County Road K, and make the sharp turn onto County Road 25, there is a historical marker for Mingo on the left side, behind the barbed wire fence.

From the road, the cache is in front of a fence and you face directly to I-70 above you, with signs pointing directions for I-70 East and I-70 West. The white container is at the middle of the fence section, on the ground, and is about 10 inches long, 5 inches diameter.

The Oldest Active Geocache

Mingo, also known as GC30, was placed just east of this spot by The Kansas Stasher on May 11, 2000. This was the seventh geocache to be placed in the world. Little did the Kansas Stasher know that by 2002 this hide would become the oldest surviving geocache in the world. Through many trials and tribulations this cache has survived for over 20 years. To commemorate the longevity this plaque is being placed to celebrate its place in Geocaching history.
