The Methodist Church has had a presence in Saint Lucia dating back to 1888. Methodist make up a small percent of the population of Saint Lucia, never the less the Church itself has been very influential in the country. Nobel prize winning poet Derek Walcott, who was born and raised in Castries, was a member of the congregation.

The Castries Methodist Church is a member of the Methodist Church in the Caribbean and the Americas which was inaugurated in 1967 and headquartered in Saint John's, Antigua. Currently the Ghanaian Minister Reverend Seth Ampadu is the Superintendent of the Saint Lucia Circuit.

The symmetrical, salmon colored, stucco church has a central gabled roof which has a sharply decreasing angle at each end. It is five bays wide with an entrance in the center flanked by a pair of windows with a rounded tops on each side. The entrance is reached by a flight of 5 steps lading up to a short portico and a set of double doors with a matching rounded top.

On the façade above the entrance is a Latin Cross and the inscription CASTRIES METHODIST CHURCH. A sign between the third and fourth windows identifies the church as a member of the Methodist Church in the Caribbean and the Americas and lists other indormation.
