The Roman Catholic Cathedral of Our Lady of Solitude, named after the Virgin of Solitude which is the patron saint of Acapulco. The Cathedral is the seat of the Archdiocese of Acapulco led by Archbishop Felipe Aguirre Franco.

The blue, white, and gold cathedral was built in 1930 in the style of a mosque. The cathedral is based on a design by Adamo Boari. It was damaged by a hurricane in 1938 and reconstructed in 1940 under the supervision of architect Federico Mariscal.

The cathedral contains a central, Moorish style, wide, blue and gold dome and a pair of Byzantine towers flanking the main entrance onto the Plaza Álvarez, which are suggestive of minarets. The interior is decorated with marble and painted in white and blue with gold accents. The dome is blue with a gold grid containing the images of angels.
