De Schouw children's farm in Zutphen exists since 1983. In the beginning they were under the responsibility of the Municipality of Zutphen. Since 2013 they have to fend for themselves financially. This is done, among other things, by sheltering vulnerable people who can take care of the animals in a protected environment. Many families in the area are donors of the petting zoo. There are also many campaigns by all kinds of companies and institutions to keep them stay financially healthy.
There are all kinds of animals that are also bred with. That is why there are occasionally young chickens, rabbits or guinea pigs for sale. However, breeding is not done for a commercial purpose.
Many activities are organized for children, all with the aim of teaching them more about animals and nature.
The animals can be fed with pellets. There is a machine that provides a bowl of food for 0.50 Euro.
After use, return the trays to the machine.
