In 1988 the junior room Oost-Achterhoek conceived the plan to set up a national linden arboretum for the Netherlands. The water company gave them 14 hectares of land for free to realize this arboretum.
The linden arboretum is the official gene bank for linden trees in the Netherlands and globally recognized. The arboretum presents the trees in all sorts of ways.
The trees are presented in different ways. In addition to free-standing trees, there are also various linden trees that are pruned into a shape and attached to a structure.
Examples are linden that together form a roof, linden in storeys, pyramids and also as a 75 meter long pergola or berceau. The photos at this waymark were taken in winter so there is little vegetation. In the summer it is a wonderfully shaded walking path.
