Location of the replica outside the chapel Replica

A terracotta relief of Crucifixion Group adorns the southwestern gable of St. Jacob's Chapel in Brandenburg.

The relief on display outside is a replica. The original is now displaced inside the chapel to save it from environmental hazards and from vandalism.

The relief depicts Jesus on the cross, mourned by Mother Mary and St. Paul. All knowledge about the artist and the time, the original was created has been lost. The Chapel was built around 1320; it can be assumed that the original relief is of the same age.

Location of the original inside the chapel

Original

Inside, the chapel is empty, as it is now used as an artist's studio. The only picture we took inside was the closeup of the original relief. For the location, we had to borrow a picture from Wikipedia. All other pictures are our own.
