The Fountain of the Artichoke has a 30' diameter rounded triangular ground level base and a central pedestal supporting a large circular basin. On top of the upper basin is a plant whose leaves are arranged to resemble an artichoke, hence the name.

Water flows down from between the lowest row of leaves into the circular basin. Then is overflows the circular basin into the ground level basin.

The fountain was installed in the Piazza Trieste e Trento in 1956 and restored in 2015.
