"Montrichard-Val-de-Cher est une commune du Loir-et-Cher, en région Centre-Val de Loire, à environ 45 km à l'est de Tours.
La ville a été créée officiellement le 1er janvier 2016, après la fusion de Montrichard (3 300 habitants) et Bourré (675 habitants).
Les deux localités étaient jusqu'alors limitrophes, sur la rive droite du Cher, s'étirant sur les coteaux dominant le cours. Montrichard fut dès le XIe siècle doté d'un château et en dépit de la guerre de Cent Ans, profita de l'essor de cette région prisée des rois de France. Son cœur historique conserve un riche héritage architectural de cette période faste. Deux filles de Louis XI se marièrent ici et François Ier aimait chasser dans les forêts cernant la cité.
Bourré pour sa part développa une importante activité liée à ses carrières souterraines (dans la pierre de tuffeau), utilisées notamment pour la culture des champignons.
