"The Mahanay Bell Tower celebrated its 50th Anniversary in 2016 with the fanfare deserving of finally achieving a dream of a four octave carillon. The structure was built in 1966 with just 14 bells and as of May 30, 2017, the 47 bells is one of only 3 carillon towers in Iowa and 148 in the United States.

"The 168 ft. tower sitting on the corner of the courthouse square in downtown Jefferson is easy to find at the corner of Lincoln Way and Wilson. The elevator takes visitors to the Paul Nally Observation Deck at 120 ft. with a spectacular view of the countryside, the downtown and four rooftop art installations.

"The Mahanay Memorial Carillon Tower is open daily from Memorial Day weekend through the month of September and weekends in May and October. Hours are 10 a.m. – 4 p.m. Admission is $3 for adults and FREE for Youth 18 yrs. of age and younger courtesy of the Jefferson Hy-Vee.
