[FR] Coupole de la Cathédrale de Berlin. La cathédrale de Berlin (Berliner Dom, ou officiellement : Oberpfarr- und Domkirche « Église paroissiale supérieure et collégiale ») est l'église principale protestante historique de Berlin située sur l'île aux Musées à Berlin-Mitte.
L'édifice de style néo-Renaissance a une longueur de 114 mètres, pour une largeur de 73 mètres et une hauteur de 116 mètres.
Le corps central est coiffé d'une imposante coupole ; l'espace sous celle-ci est consacré au prêche. L'aile sud comporte la chapelle des Baptêmes et des Mariages, tandis que l'aile nord abrite la chapelle funéraire.
Pendant la Seconde Guerre mondiale, la cathédrale a été frappée par une bombe incendiaire qui a gravement endommagé une grande partie du bâtiment. Un toit temporaire fut installé pour protéger ce qui restait de l'intérieur et - malgré les plans du gouvernement est-allemand de démolir le bâtiment - en 1975 la reconstruction de l'église a commencé.

[EN] Dome of the Berlin Cathedral. The Berlin Cathedral (Berliner Dom, or officially: Oberpfarr- und Domkirche "Upper Parish and Collegiate Church") is Berlin's historic Protestant main church located on the Museum Island in Berlin-Mitte.
The neo-Renaissance building is 114 meters long, 73 meters wide and 116 meters high.
The central body is capped with an imposing dome; the space under it is devoted to preaching. The south wing includes the Chapel of Baptisms and Weddings, while the north wing houses the funeral chapel.
During the Second World War, the cathedral was hit by an incendiary bomb that severely damaged much of the building. A temporary roof was installed to protect what was left of the interior and - despite the plans of the East German government to demolish the building - in 1975 the rebuilding of the church began.
The restoration of the interior began in 1984 and in 1993 the cathedral reopened. It was dedicated for the second time in 1996. In the meantime, restoration work continued until 2002.
During the reconstruction, the original design was simplified; the cupolas that crowned the domes, for example, were removed. The Hohenzollern Mausoleum, which was located on the north side of the building, was also removed during the process.

Das Neorenaissance-Gebäude ist 114 Meter lang, 73 Meter breit und 116 Meter hoch.
Der zentrale Körper ist mit einer imposanten Kuppel bedeckt; der Raum darunter ist dem Predigen gewidmet. Der Südflügel beherbergt die Kapelle der Taufen und Hochzeiten, während der Nordflügel die Trauerkapelle beherbergt.
Während des Zweiten Weltkriegs wurde die Kathedrale von einer Brandbombe getroffen, die einen Großteil des Gebäudes schwer beschädigte. Zum Schutz der Überreste des Innenraums wurde ein provisorisches Dach installiert. Trotz der Pläne der DDR-Regierung, das Gebäude abzureißen, wurde 1975 mit dem Wiederaufbau der Kirche begonnen.
Die Restaurierung des Innenraums begann 1984 und 1993 wurde die Kathedrale wiedereröffnet. Es wurde 1996 zum zweiten Mal eingeweiht. In der Zwischenzeit wurden die Restaurierungsarbeiten bis 2002 fortgesetzt.
