This wash house doubled as a baking oven. Private baking ovens were prominent in Württemburg until the building of community bakeries. The building here from a Sielmingen farm was used for multiple purposes :
1) As a baking oven
2) As a wash house
3) As a fruit dryer
The baking oven/wash house was built in 1813. It was part of a farm complex with a 2 story farmhouse, a barn and a stable. The farm was owned jointly by the mayor Michael Fauser and his sister Margaretha Schäfer, born Fauser.
After 1813, the fruit dryer was added.
Before 1919, addition of wash cauldrons. The water could be taken from the stream which flowed under the building.
The baking oven was in use until the 1950s. The wash cauldron was used until the 1960s to supplement other means of washing clothes.
In 1988, the building was dismantled to be relocated at the outdoor museum.
In 1989, it was rebuilt at the outdoor museum.
