The Temple of the Jaguars is two stories. The upper story looks down on the playing field west of the temple and the lower story opens to the east, this is where the Jaguar Throne is located.
There is another Jaguar Throne located in the top of the main pyramid, El Castillo. While touring Chichén Itzá our guide, a graduate student in Mayan studies, said the thrones are believed to have served some ceremonial purpose.
