Makati City is one of the seventeen urban centers that currently comprise Metro Manila. Known for its hi-rise office buildings, shopping and entertainment districts, Makati has become the financial hub of the Philippines. It is also home to the Philippine Stock Exchange as well as several international embassies.

The background of the stamp does not show an actual scene but is rather a composite of modern hi-rise buildings found in different parts of the city. For instance, the building with the giant “MAKATI” across the top is Makati’s City Hall. Though shown next to Alaya Tower One on the stamp, it’s actually about a mile away.

Alaya Tower One & Exchange Plaza is located in the heart of the central business district. It houses the main headquarters of the Alaya Corporation and several other institutions. At 35 stories high, it is one of the tallest skyscrapers in the Philippines.
