En esta casa vivió y tuvo su estudio el fotógrafo Amador Cuesta Barrientos ´´AMADOR´´ (1863-1939) y para él posaron los más destacados personajes de su época
Amador fue el ojo fotográfico del Madrid que desapareció con el Siglo XIX y se quería levantar con otro afán tras el 98. Amador era hijo de un fotógrafo salmantino. Pronto se vio en Madrid, trabajando y viviendo en el estudio de “Napoleón” en la calle del Príncipe nº 14. En 1890 se independiza y abre su propio estudio en la calle de Toledo, 63 y se casa con una madrileña.
Su nueva sede en 1898, en la Puerta del Sol, va a consolidar su prestigio. Era entonces el nº 13 (hoy 12) en el piso 5 º izquierda, el ático con una hermosa terraza enfrente del señero reloj, donde tenía una tertulia vespertina. Aún hoy se puede ver desde el exterior el tejado de zinc que correspondía a sus estancias profesionales. Su inauguración es recogida en numerosos periódicos .Tenía en el portal una galería donde llamaban la atención sus ampliaciones, por la que pasaba “todo Madrid”.
Fue fotógrafo de la Real Casa y dice su nieta la pintora, Carlota Cuesta, que “por su galería pasaron políticos, aristócratas, intelectuales, artistas, el clero, las milicianas y el rey” y así lo demuestra su amplio legado. Fue reportero gráfico fijo en las revistas Nuevo Mundo, El Español, Blanco y Negro, La Monarquía, etc. A partir de 1910 se dedicó casi exclusivamente al retrato de galería.
Recibió el Gran Premio de 1907 de la Exposición Internacional de Madrid por su invención de la foto en relieve.

He was a photographer for the Royal House and his granddaughter, the painter, Carlota Cuesta, says that "politicians, aristocrats, intellectuals, artists, the clergy, the militia and the king passed through her gallery" and this is demonstrated by her extensive legacy. He was a fixed graphic reporter in the magazines Nuevo Mundo, El Español, Blanco y Negro, La Monarquía, etc. From 1910 he devoted himself almost exclusively to the gallery portrait.
He received the 1907 Grand Prize of the International Exhibition of Madrid for his invention of the relief photo.
