Un consulat est un petit bureau diplomatique d'un pays dans un autre pays. Si le premier pays a un ambassadeur dans l'autre pays, le bureau diplomatique principal, situé dans la capitale, est appelé ambassade et dans cette situation, les consulats seraient situés dans d'autres grandes villes. Cependant, s'il n'y a pas d'ambassade, le consulat peut se trouver dans la capitale. Les consulats ne remplissent généralement pas toutes les fonctions d'une ambassade.
Les consulats s'occupent généralement des questions relatives aux passeports pour leurs propres citoyens, aux visas pour les étrangers souhaitant visiter le pays d'origine du consulat et aux licences d'importation et d'exportation.
Ancienne Bourse de Commerce, devenu aujourd’hui un centre de congrès moderne, contribuant à affirmer toujours plus le rôle de Namur comme capitale de la Wallonie, accueille dans son sein 2 Consulat, celui du Burkina Faso et R.D Congo (actuellement fermer vue des tensions avec la Belgique)
Een consulaat is een klein diplomatiek bureau van het ene land in een ander land. Als het eerste land een ambassadeur in het andere land heeft, wordt het belangrijkste diplomatieke kantoor in de hoofdstad een ambassade genoemd en in deze situatie zouden alle consulaten in andere grote steden gevestigd zijn. Als er echter geen ambassade is, kan het consulaat zich in de hoofdstad bevinden. Consulaten vervullen meestal niet alle functies van een ambassade.
Consulaten behandelen meestal vragen over paspoorten voor hun eigen burgers, visa voor buitenlanders die het thuisland van het consulaat willen bezoeken en vergunningen voor import en export.
De voormalige handelsbeurs, die vandaag een modern conferentiecentrum is geworden, om de rol van Namen als hoofdstad van Wallonië nog meer te bevestigen, verwelkomt 2 consulaten, het consulaat van Burkina Faso en D.R. Congo (momenteel gesloten wegens spanningen met België)
A consulate is a small diplomatic office of one country in another country. If the first country has an ambassador in the other country, the main diplomatic office, located in the capital city is called an Embassy and in this situation, any consulates would be located in other large towns and cities. However if there is no embassy, the consulate could be in the capital city. Consulates usually do not perform all of the functions of an embassy.
