In the center of Potsdam's Old Cemetery, there is a circle of graves of victims of Nazi-Dictatorship - people who resisted Hitler's regime and its war and were killed by the Nazis.
In the middle of the circle stands a 20 ft tall bell tower. On it's front, it carries the inscription DEN TOTEN ZUR EHRE - DEN LEBENDEN ZUR PFLICHT, meaning that keeping peace is an obligation for the living that honors the dead.
On the other three sides, the tower is adorned with doves. At the left and right side, doves are engraved directly into the brick wall. At the back side, there are two doves made of metal frames mounted at the tower's wall.
These are not the classical peace doves with olive branches, but the message of the entire monument, in fact of the entire grave site is a message of peace.
