One of only two carillons on the island... this one is lesser known but much more accessible to the general public -- and it's free to view / enjoy!

Most official websites only list one carillon on the island of Curacao, the "
Four Royal Children" located inside the Curacao Museum... but hidden within the heart of Punda, the historic district of Willemstad (the island's capital), another little gem can be found, built specifically for locals and tourists to listen and enjoy twice a day.
Located on Gomez Plaza, right next to the statue of
Moises Frumencio da Costa Gomez, is the Gomezplein carillon clock.
Back in the day, this carillon would fill Punda with joyful tunes every 30 minutes: its 23 bells would chime and could be heard several blocks away, while its traditional little dolls would move along below. Sadly, times have changed and the island's economy isn't doing so great these days, so the dolls hardly come out anymore... but the chimes still go off at noon and 6pm every day!
