Located near the fort of Reis Magos, this church was originally built by the Franciscans in 1555

This was the first to be build in Bardez region, which happen in 1555. It's not possible to determine what is left from the original temple. The church which can be seen today is mostly the result of renovation works which took place in 1771.
Actually three of them died in Goa and their tombs can be found inside the church.
The nearby fort probably was named after the existent church.
