The Sutliff bridge was built in 1897-98. One of the few remaining Parker Truss bridges in Iowa, it is believed to be the longest ever built in Iowa. The planks lay crossways on the bridge and did not have a second layer on top running parallel with the frame. This bridge was taken out of service in 1981 because the modern loads exceded the rated capacity.
