Onward, in the dark and the cold, to this cache we went. This island, in a pond near the World War II Memorial and Lincoln Monument, honors all the signers of the Declaration of Independence. Stone blocks bear the signature, name, profession, and hometown of each signer. The pond surrounding the island was packed full of geese (only their white backsides and chests visible in the night) who chatted back and forth the whole time we (my pack of TBs and I) were there.
