My mom loved animals. Growing up we had trantulas, rabbits, dogs, cats, guinea pigs (and other rodents). Often she whould breed them for sale. When I was younger it was the cats. When she was in Colorado it became rabbits.
I remember one particular rabbit, a long, floppy eared pure black female. Relaxing in the sun she looked like a balled up towel on the little deck we had, which she practically lived under. When people recognized her as an animal though they would often say, "That is the strangest looking dog I've ever seen." To which I would reply, "That's because it's a rabbit." The general response at the point was, "That's biggest rabbit I've ever seen!"
Origins of "hido," K.D., and the road trip
"Hido" was a greeting my mother, Kathy Bruce started saying in the mid-nineties. It was a consolidation of, "Hi, how are you doing?" into one word. Like Namaste for Enlgish speakers.
Mom's middle initial was "D". Katie was the name of her grandmother (her mom's mom). First initial plus middile initial, phonetically results in the same sound.
The Hido K.D. Road Trip is a tribute to my mother who passed away March 1st, 2019. She loved road trips and traveling. These trackables let her keep doing so for however long they last..
