I am a MounTenBike geocoin and a tribute to the late Mike Hall, one of the world's premier Endurance Cyclists. Mike was hit and killed by a motorist south-west of Sydney, Australia, while competing in the 2017 Indian Pacific Wheel Race. My goal is to defend Mike's 2016 race victory and record time in the Tour Divide. I must first get to Banff, Alberta, Canada. Once there, I must make my way to as near Indian Wells, New Mexico, United States as I can.
Endurance cyclists use SPOT GPS trackers which transmit their position to race organizers, family and interested fans, typically called "Dot Watchers". Live tracking is available for organized events on the Internet. Cyclists all over the world check in often to see the progress of their favorite riders. Mike's "dot" stopped moving early Friday, March 31st, 2017 near Canberra.
I hope to emulate Mike's Dot along the Tour Divide.
Take me with you on a bike trip. Leave me in geocaches along bike routes and paths. Post photos of our adventures. If you are a Dot Watcher, watch my partner coin, “A DOT for Mike – IPWR.” Please keep me pedaling toward my goal.
My origin is a cache south-west of Sidney, Michigan, USA: Inspired to Ride, GC76TG0. I would be happy to check in to any Sidney cache.
Thank you for keeping me in circulation.
Ride in Peace Mike
