Current Goal

This travel bug has two modest goals, to survive more than five years and to be moved by 25 cachers.  As of 29-May-19 it had been circulating for only 4.0 years, but it had been moved by 36 cachers before it went missing.

Please drop it in rural OR Premium Member Only caches.  Do not place it in an urban cache or abandon it at a caching event.  Transport the bug in the original plastic bag for as long as the bag lasts; the bag keeps the trackable clean, protects the number and prevents tangling with other items.  Otherwise, take the travel bug anywhere you wish.  No permission is needed to leave the U.S.

Travel bug photos are appreciated and will be re-posted here.

About This Item

JulietteBinoche

This “Star” series of travel bugs is to bring attention to my favorite movie actors.  Some have awards, some do not.  There is no criterion to be included as a favorite beyond I will watch anything that has her/him in it.

Juliette Binoche is a French actress, artist and dancer.  She has appeared in more than 40 feature films, been recipient of numerous international accolades, is a published author and has appeared on stage across the world.  Coming from an artistic background, she began taking acting lessons during adolescence.  She had a number of acclaimed performances into the 1980s but it was sensual performance in her English-language debut,The Unbearable Lightness of Being, that launched her international career.

In 1996 she starred in The English Patient, for which she was awarded an Academy Award for Best Supporting Actress.   For her performance in Lasse Hallström's romantic comedy Chocolat (2000) Binoche was nominated for an Academy Award for Best Actress.  Throughout the 2000s she has maintained a successful, critically acclaimed career, alternating between French and English language roles in both mainstream and art-house productions.

Binoche was born in Paris, the daughter of Jean-Marie Binoche, a French director, actor, and sculptor, and Monique Yvette Stalens, a Posish teacher, director, and actress.  When Binoche's parents divorced in 1968, four-year-old Binoche and her sister Marion were sent to a provincial boarding school.  During their teens, the Binoche sisters spent their school holidays with their maternal grandmother, not seeing either parent for months at a time.  Binoche has stated that this perceived parental abandonment had a profound effect on her.

In her teenage years she began acting at school in amateur stage productions.  At 17, she directed and starred in a student production.  She studied acting at the Conservatoire National Supérieur d'Art Dramatique, but quit after a short time as she disliked the curriculum.  In the early 1980s, she found an agent through a friend and joined a theater troupe with which she toured France, Belgium and Switzerland.  Her first professional screen experience was as an extra in a three part TV series.  Following this Binoche secured her first feature film appearance with a minor role in Liberty Belle.  Her role required just two days on set, but was enough to inspire Binoche to pursue a career in film.  My favorite Binoche movies are The Unbearable Lightness of Being (1988), Damage (1992), The English Patient (1996), Chocolat (2000) and Jet Lag (2002).

Oh!! A star ⭐️ !!! As I’m also to 50% french and my first culture is french, I really love to have this TB and to bring it to a new place. My favourite films with Juliette are Camille Claude’s and Chocolate. The TB was without plastic bag. So I put it in a new one 😉
