About This Item

2014 Legacy Gold Coin

Perth and Kinross has hundreds of geocaches to discover. We have also set up a series of multicache trails, where each cache gives you a letter of a code word and the coordinates of the next cache. Follow the whole trail to crack the code!

The first 200 people who complete a trail and send their passport to the Council and receive a silver geocoin.

The first 40 people to complete all seven trails and finish an additional challenge  will receive a highly-prized gold geocoin that features an image of the Ryder Cup. To complete the additional challenge, you must find a further eight caches of their choosing, from the thousands already located in Perth and Kinross, and note their locations on the Geocaching Passport.

Perth and Kinross is regarded as the geocaching capital of Scotland, attracting an estimated £1.5 million annual income to the local economy. The geocaching project is part of Perth & Kinross Council's 'Take Part, Take Pride, Take Place' initiative towards building a legacy of active communities.

A series of seven new geocache trails will be launched to celebrate 2014 and The Ryder Cup.

Look out for seven new geocache trails that will be going live in the coming weeks by Aberfeldy, Auchterarder, Blairgowrie, Crieff, Kinross, Longforgan and Pitlochry for visitors and residents to enjoy.

To mark The 2014 Ryder Cup coming to the area, the Council has commissioned a series of special-edition bronze, silver and gold geocoins, and will be hiding some of them at random in existing geocaches in Perth and Kinross and along the seven new trails. The first batch of bronze geocoins has already been hidden at random in existing caches around Aberfeldy, Kenmore, Kinloch Rannoch and Blairgowrie.

This is the Gold Level - If you send us your passport with all eight challenges completed, we will send the first 50 people a gold ‘Take Part, Take Pride, Take Place’ trackable geocoin. With only a limited number in circulation and featuring an image of the Ryder Cup, these are sure to be highly prized.
