There's a strange story behind this coin. I found it in a geocache, and thought it was pretty nice. I traded another trackable for it, took it home, and tried to log the retrieval. Much to my surprise, it had not yet been activated. I looked through the logs to find the cacher who left it, contacted him, and learned that he was also surprised. He had already dug further through the logs of the cache he retrieved the coin from and worked his way backward in an attempt to locate and contact the actual owner of the geocoin. No luck.
I thought about just moving it on. Then I thought that the next cacher might go through the same fruitless search. I decided to just activate it and send it on its way.
So this geocoin is dedicated to two things:
- Enjoy and protect our wetlands. They are incredibly valuable. Cache them, learn about them, and protect them.
- To the original owner, whoever you are: This coin is for you, the guy who invested some cash for a coin and then sent it out into the geocaching world without activating it.
