About This Item

Geocoin

These beautiful Seeing Stars geocoins were designed and commissioned to commemorate the wedding on the 10th of November, 2012 of the cachers Northern Rising and PurpleAngel.

They were designed by Northern Rising and only 100 coins were produced in a lovely Purple/Blue colour scheme. 50 were personalised and used as favours, the rest have no printing and some of these were offered for sale to other cachers on their first wedding anniversary. That’s only 25 of each of the 2 variations that were made – so you have one of only 25 coins of this type in your hand. That’s pretty special. Sadly an unscrupulous cacher took a shine to the geocoin and stole it, so I'm afraid I've had to make a 'poxy proxy' to travel instead.

The coin is 40mm in diameter and 3mm thick. It is called "Seeing Stars" and is trackable (with its own unique icon) on Geocaching.com.  Half have a blue border on the front and a purple border on the back, the rest the other way around. The border is recessed with a Celtic pattern on both sides, overlaid with transparent resin in either blue or purple. It is a "Suncatcher" style coin with the central star being made of translucent resin. The star is either blue or purple, depending on the variation (colour matches the back border). This coin has a blue border around the front and a purple star in the centre.

The 10 outer petals are also translucent and alternate between blue and purple. It really does look beautiful when held up to the light, especially natural light. The petals are interspersed with a textured recessed area decorated with 8 Celtic knots.
At the top of the coin is the Uffington Horse - an ancient chalk hill sculpture in Cambridgeshire whilst at the bottom is the Green Man as seen in Mucking Church, near Thurrock.
