Mit dem neuen Caterham Superlight R500 brachten die Briten die minimalistische Philosophie der Leichtbauweise auf einen neuen Level mit noch mehr Power und einem schärferen Handling. Diese Fahrmaschine sollte ein gewisses Können voraussetzen; denn der R500 wiegt nur 506 Kilogramm, mobilisiert jedoch 267 PS, was einem Leistungsgewicht von atemberaubenden 1,895 kg/PS entspricht. Um die Adrenalin ausstoßende Zahl vorwegzunehmen: In nur 2,88 Sekunden katapultiert sich der Caterham R500 aus dem Stand auf 60 mph (96,56 km/h).

With the new Caterham Superlight R500 the British brought the minimalist philosophy of lightweight construction to a new level with more power and a sharper handling. This driving machine should have a certain skill presuppose, for the R500 weighs just 506 kg, but mobilizes 267 hp, which corresponds to a power to weight ratio of breathtaking 1.895 kg / hp. To anticipate the adrenaline pumping number: in only 2.88 seconds, the Caterham R500 catapulted from standstill to 60 mph (96.56 km / h).
