About This Item

"Olive" to travel

We love to travel and we love sea shells.  This is a Lettered Olive we found in Pensacola Beach Florida.  The name, Lettered Olive, comes from the markings on the shell which resemble hand writing. Olives are found at the surf zone and eat small clams.  Olives don't have good vision so they rely on their sense of smell to find their food. Olives are glossy because the fleshy mantles of the live mollusk protect the shell.
