Yeastie would like to hop from cache to cache around the world, possibly pausing to visit pubs or bakeries along the way for photo opportunities. [If it should come across another copy of the delightful Moyasimon manga , which features a character who can see microbes such as this one, it'd love to have its picture taken with its manga-drawn cousins.]
This cute little yeast-plush is from GiantMicrobes.com, and represents the yeast that gives us bread and beer, as well as other good things. (Though the real ones don't have those cute little eyes. I hope.) Here's the text from the tag that came with it:
"For at least six thousand years, Saccaromyces cerevisiae ("sugar fungus of the beer") has been used to make beer and bread! It is also useed to make sake and wine.
"How did humanity discover the secrets of yeast so many millennia ago? Tiny, wild yeast spores, floating on the air, must have settled down on a baker's dough or a jug of juice. And thus the magical effects of yeast were revealed!"
