For true-Colognians and fans of the small round Geocoins there had to be a real typical Cologne edition sometime.

History: In 2006, the two geocachers Thoto and Longtomsilver met and Thoto, who had been a little longer with Geocoins, came up with an event idea in Cologne to set up together a frequent event. On the first "Klaav un Tratsch op Kölsch" event, on 11/24/2006, was also the release of the Cologne edition of the "Regions of Germany Geocoin" where the cathedral was represented for the first time. The idea of ​​a special Cologne Geocoin then evolved in the two cachers on the following events and together with the Ownerin of www.mygeocoin.de the idea of ​​the "Koelner Dom Geocoin" in the typical cathedral window style was born.

On the front of the Cologne Cathedral you see the main portal with many details and orbiting Scripture is "High Cathedral of Saint Peter and Mary - Unesco world heritage site". The back window was inspired by the extraordinary "Richter" window of the Cologne Cathedral.

In June 2008, the first five editions were then completed and after demand exceeded at the event "Klaav un Tratsch op Kölsch @ the Beach" in August, the range of 2 editions (AS and AG) were reproduced.

The Cologne Cathedral, constructed between 1248 and 1880, is considered a masterpiece of Gothic architecture and was inscribed in the UNESCO World Heritage List in 1996. At the time of its completion in the 19th century, the cathedral was the tallest building in the world. The builders of Cologne Cathedral had perfected the cathedral as a form. The design of the western façade broke every convention: as the largest church façade in the world, it was to cover a surface area of 7,000 square metres, flanked by two mighty 156-metre towers.

The large window in the façade of the north transept was donated by citizens of Cologne on the occasion of the elevation to cardinal of Archbishop Johannes von Geissel in 1850. The window was made in the Cologne workshop of Friedrich Baudri and installed in 1865. The window suffered extensive damage in the Second World War. All that remains of the original window are the large standing figures, which represent characters from the Old Testament. Wilhelm Teuwen, who also designed the glazing for the triforium, designed the tracery of the window in 1968. The ornamental panels above the figures were designed by Hubert Schaffmeister in 1980.
