About This Item

The Ride of Silence...

Tonight we number many but ride as one
In honor of those not with us, friends, mothers, fathers, sisters, sons
With helmets on tight and heads down low,
We ride in silence, cautious and slow
The wheels start spinning in the lead pack
But tonight we ride and no one attacks
The dark sunglasses cover our tears
Remembering those we held so dear
Tonight's ride is to make others aware
The road is there for all to share
To those not with us or by our side,
May God be your partner on your final ride.

- Mike Murgas

This geocoin is dedicated to those who have perished needlessly in biking accidents on the road, whether cycling or motorbiking, but for a little awareness, and a little patience that could have spared a life. Please take a moment to contemplate and share this fact with those around you, and keep this coin moving to the next cache, to spread awareness that may save someone in the future.

Please be careful, and please be patient. On the road, nothing can be more important. It is so easy to lose attention, to lose calm, and to forget how fast you are travelling, how close driving actually is to pointing a loaded gun with a finger on the trigger. Lives hang in the balance, and so many have been lost already. Every one has a sorrowful story, and many could have been saved if not for a little consideration, a second glance, that costs nothing.
The next time you see a biker, please slow down and be cautious a little, as if he/she were a loved one to watch out for. We share the road in silence, and we need your help. Please let us ride home safely~
