In Zusammenarbeit mit 20th Century Fox entschied Groundspeak zum Start des Films „Planet of the Apes“ den Hype um diesen Film dazu zu nutzen, ebenfalls das Geocaching bekannter zu machen. So wurde von 20th Century Fox eine eigenständige, vom Film abgekoppelte Geschichte entworfen und diese zusammen mit Artefakten des Films in unterschiedliche Missionen weltweit verteilt. Es entstanden folgende Project A.P.E. Missionen und Caches:
Together with 20th Century Fox Company Groundspeak used the hype around the “Planet of the Apes” movie to make Geocaching more famous. So 20th Century Fox created an own – different from the movie – story for the Project A.P.E. Caches and placed some original movie artefacts in the real big ammo cans. Following Project A.P.E. Auf dieser Coin, die es in zwei Varianten gibt (silber und gold) sind noch 4 aktive A.P.E. Caches mit einem grünen Stein markiert. Die zu der Zeit des Coin-Releases bereits archivierten sind mit einem roten Punkt markiert. Die silberne Coin war frei verkäuflich, die goldene nur für Cacher, die bereits einen Project A.P.E. Cache geloggt haben. Auch wenn wir bald einen A.P.E. loggen werden, bin ich froh, zumindest die silberne Eintrittskarte zu meiner Sammlung hinzufügen zu können!
On this coin that is existing in two variations (silver and gold) there are 4 active A.P.E. Caches marked with agreen gem stone. The Caches that were already archived that time are marked with a red dot. The silver Geocoin was available to anyone, the golden one only for Geocachers, who already logged an A.P.E. Cache. Even we’re off to visit one of them this year I’m happy to add this silver Ticket-Styled one to my collection.
