The Rats started caching in 2002, back then our nearest cache was
almost 30km's away and there were no other local cachers. Some 5
years later there's now over 90 caches and a heap more cachers in
that 30km radius.
With so many new people taking up this crazy sport we thought it
was time the local caching community got together. Thus 'The Rats'
are hosting the first Illawarra/South coast caching BBQ. Come and
join us put a face to a name, swap a story and enjoy a bite to
eat.
If you are new to this game, don't be shy, many good friendships
have been made at these events, nobody cares about how many caches
you have or haven't done. There will be cachers there with a wealth
of experience and advice, so mark this date on your calendar.
Its a BYO day so don't forget your lunch & GPS. We'll meet
you at the posted co-ords about 10:30am on 24/2/07. There is a
large undercover area with BBQ facilities, you'll need to bring
your own chair.
Please post a note to say how many will be attending, bring the
whole family and we look forward to seeing you there.
How to get there: Blackbutt Reserve is a fairly big park
and thus has a number of entry points. The easiest way to get to GZ
is to turn off Shellharbour Rd into Woodlands Dr, follow this to
the end. Turn left into Blackbutt Wy and follow this straight up
the hill, you'll go through the gate and into the park. Follow this
road around to the carpark. The attached
map should help those who still can't find it.
